Essence of History

“History is who we are and why we are the way we are.”
Welcome History enthusiasts! I am Aahana, studying in class IX E. As a student I am always curious about the things this world holds. History intrigues me the most. In a world of rapid changes, it is always interesting to know about the former times as in the lifestyle of our ancestors, the great world of the past.

Looking back in time, it fascinates me how tree-living primates, after millions of years, have evolved into the present-day human beings who can communicate from any part of the world, reach the limitless space, and create weapons endangering humanity itself.

Along with golden ages, history also tells us about the dark times brought upon the people by the nature or by people for a simple and absurd reasons.

The modern world has grown out of ancient civilizations. Ancient people gave us the wheel, pottery, writing, mathematics, music, painting, and sculpture. The temples of the Maya in Central America are in ruins today, but local people still speak Mayan languages and follow ancient traditions. The Pyramids, the Parthenon and the Great Wall of China still make visitors stand and stare in awe. The empires of the past have left their mark on the present.

They measured the Earth and studied the stars with nothing but with sheer brain power! They were driven with curiosity which has led to such advanced times today.

Of course, history does not begin and end in neat sections. It is a flow of events and people, merging and overlapping with each other. With history we can learn about ourselves, the nature around us and the environment beyond that. So let’s embark our own historical journeys. Let us learn more and teach more.
